Plans for the Big Kickoff Weekend
Are in Place and Looking Good;
Starts Tomorrow and Sunday

Preparations for tomorrow morning's Saturday Breakfast Cafe are ready for the residents of SLI and their weekend guests from 8 to 10 a.m. Board members will be there to "Meet and Greet" and get to know. We have some really great people working for us as elected volunteers (no compensation). A week from this Saturday (July 8), we elect three new Trustees to fill three vacant slots. Nominations Committee is preparing a slate and time will be given for nominations from the floor.

The SLI Board meeting at 10 a.m. at Epworth, will be receiving their Committee Updates and New Business. A report will be given on the progress of the new sound system at Epworth, the receipt of the new keyboard for use at the outdoor and Dock services, the fantastic progress of the Stoody remodeling, the Hoag painting, and a progress report from Long Range Planning Committee on their work on memorial signage, re-configuring the 2002 Rule Book, and an update on the Ames Ave. Beautification Project.

Workers are scheduled to staff the Annual One-Day SLI STORE to be held at Hoag Memorial's first floor where SLA memberships and SLA directories can be purchased, tickets for the Barbecue Chicken on July 9 for the new Epworth Roof, Garbage Stickers, Flares with trays for the holiday celebration, registrations for the SLE program Aug. 10-13, and volunteer signups for the SLE event. SLI STORE will be open from Noon to 5 p.m.

A beautiful, inspiring, and challenging worship service is planned with Guest Speaker, (the Rev.) Gail M. Lewis. You won't want to miss her! This is our Opening Service held down at the big blue Dock (Wesley Ave. at Lakeview Ave.). Julie Hoffner will be on the new keyboard and Don Weaver will be directing the "spontaneous bell choir." There will also be important announcements and the downing of the opening gavel by President Schaefer. Chaplain Greg will be the Service leader. PLUS our famous Hot Dog Fellowship will follow immediately after the Service with desserts and drink. It's fun and starts things off with a big, proverbial bang! Starts at 10:30 a.m. Forecast is for a sunny day with a high of 78!
