If Trustees Approve, LRPC to Make House Calls on Ames Avenue Seeking Residents' Needs, Opinions, and Ideas

When the Long Range Planning Committee (LRPC) first received the idea of a "Garden Path" along the trajectory of Ames Avenue, they immediately liked what they saw with the idea's beauty. Several months later, one resident, fully informed by a neighbor from across the Park, came forward to inform that the idea of a full "Garden Path" did not include automobile access to her property, which she needed occasionally.

The LRPC quickly noted that apparently at least some residents were not keeping up with available communications, yet still needed the information. Assuming there are others who do not read communications nor speak with other neighbors who do, the LRPC has decided that a door-to-door, fact-finding and discussion effort needed to be made by volunteer visitors to get neighborhood involvement, the likes of which would best be done with Board authorization.

The LRPC will be seeking permission from the Board to solicit the neighborhood about their individual needs and their opinions. For a conversation starter, LRPC hopes to use the diagram of the latest suggested idea for Ames--which is--10 feet of the avenue for residential parked cars and the remaining footage for the Ames pedestrian path.

Ideas are particularly needed for the two entry points of Ames Ave.--one at Genesee and the other at the Epworth Hall end--because both avenue opening widths seem to have "narrowed" over the years, leaving only about a 10-feet width entrance at either end. Luckily, there are options available if residents and Trustees agree on one.

The LRPC will be requesting permission to do their door-to-door canvassing at this Saturday's July 1st monthly meeting of the Board of Trustees which meets at 10:00 a.m. This month the Board meeting will take place at Epworth Hall.
