$1.1T Bill Keeps Gov't Open through Sept; House Passes 'TrumpCare'

No government shutdown this week but the issue will reappear in late September. Maintenance funds for the current southern border fencing are in the Bill but no new funds for additional wall building. Many of the feared cuts in the budget did not occur, while others were only slightly trimmed in this temporary funding Bill.

This afternoon, the House passed the American Health Care Act, i.e. "TrumpCare" with only one individual vote to spare. All Democrats and 20 Republicans voted against this Bill. The "victory" was none the less being celebrated in the Rose Garden at the White House in spite of its unpopularity. Action in the Senate will not be as easy.
