At a recent SLE planning meeting, in a discussion evolving around handicapped issues and accessibilities, the conversation began to emphasize how important it is to communicate that walking is the principle expectation for visitors and participants at SLI and Asbury when changing locations throughout the day. Committee member Greg Franklin suggested that we may want to request Ames Avenue as our central walking area as the safest and most efficient way of moving foot traffic. The suggestion was supported by Committee Member Bob Murphy who included information on the established purpose of Ames Avenue and its historical value as a footpath. Committee member Bill Schaefer made note of the request as Logistics chair. Cleanup of the footpath and identifying it with adequate signage was also brought up as a need.
