The technical name for the shortest day of the year is Winter Solstice, and it occurs in the northern hemisphere on December 21st. Already tomorrow, the days (daylight) begin again to lengthen. These many days of extended darkness make holiday lights seem all the more warm and welcome, lighting up our dark neighborhoods. Our thanks to the two cottages at the north end of Perry Ave.--one on Perry Ave., one down from the corner, and the other actually facing Camp Rd. with its side on Perry Ave. Both light up the northern entrance to the Institute with their colorfully welcome and bright light.
