EDITORIAL
While it is true, that Western New Yorkers would rather be pre-warned about lake effect snow and other troublesome conditions, Thursday, 12-15-16 proved to be a day where the work of the National Weather Service (NWS) had the forecasts wrong for Wyoming County from the early morning hours right through to the 5 am part of the Friday, 12-16-16 forecast. They were already well under 50% accuracy for most of the week and were not alone since most of the private weather companies didn't do much better. We had committed so much time and space to the Thursday forecast and had to change it every 3 or 4 hours to keep up with the "new information," that when none of it happened, it just didn't feel right leaving all of that inaccuracy on our main page, distorting the historical record. (That's the reason for the absence of the big 12-15-16 weather story.) No problem; as the old song goes, "That's Life...(that's life)...I can't deny it..." And as another old saying goes, "Better luck next time!"
