First Big Lake Effect Snow Ends Early for Silver Lake but they
Say, More is on the Way

Currently, midday Friday (12/09/16), the only Lake Effect Snow Warnings are for Cattaraugus and Chautauqua counties including the cities of Jamestown and Olean.

After more than 18 hours of "clear skies" in the very midst of a storm apparently taking place in other areas of WNY and the nation, the initial lake effect for Wyoming County is now over. The north end of the Lake is watching a power struggle between the sunshine and light snow flurries during the last hour of the morning on Friday and now into early Friday afternoon.

According to the 12:20 p.m. live Buffalo radar, northern Wyoming County is experiencing some light snow activity, along with Dunkirk with heavier snow in Jamestown. Winds are carrying the lake effect in a southeasterly direction, creating less of a problem for the Buffalo area, but only for the time being. A national cold front is sweeping across the nation with frigid temps and lake effect snow. It could reach us by Saturday, depending on the winds.
