Spectators came out to see what turned out to be a boat fire not far from the SLI Blue Dock on Saturday evening around 9:30. The boat is owned by ten-year SLI resident Dan Hiler who had just finished filling the tank when the ignition sparked the fire. Mr. Hiler was taken to the hospital and treated for burns on the toes of both feet.
There were several first responders on the scene, along with the Perry Volunteer Fire Dept. and the Wyoming County Emergency Management. Each of the responders were quick in their response when the boat was reported on fire at its docking space. We are grateful to members of the Perry FD, the WCEM, and other responders for their rapid response.
